Fitness and that word EXERCISE
Can’t say I like exercising, it is just boring to me. Going to the gym in gym cloths showing every bulge I have is something I am just not willing to do. I know that many feel the same way yet we all know there are benefits and that we really need to get moving. You know that old saying “move it or lose it” it is so true. The less we use a muscle the weaker it gets and then the harder it is to get moving again.
What activities can we do that will get us moving and encourage us to keep moving?
Exercising to Music
Join a fitness club
Join your local Recreation Center (participate in their activities)
Playing catch with children/grandchildren
Its time to get moving
For me I am going to start a garden. I already have tools, and the benefits for this go far beyond exercising. The cost of vegetables are high and if you want to purchase organic vegetables free of pesticides the cost is even higher. I haven’t exercised in at least 4 years and it’s just important to get moving .

In the summer of 2010 I rode my bicycle down the Oregon coast on weekends. I had my dog and he rode in the basket on the front of my bike. It was the first time I had ever taken on a challenge of this kind and after I had finished I was really proud to have accomplished this. It was hard and exhausting yet I really enjoyed it. I loved being on the beach, seeing the different terrain of the coast, seeing the whales in the ocean and the eagles flying over my head. Yes one day after a particularly hard climb of a hill, I stopped to rest and eat lunch at a view point pull out. This view point was overlooking the ocean and when I looked down there were three whales spouting one right after the other and when I looked up there were two eagles in the sky. I felt rewarded for the hard work that I had just accomplished. And it was!

So at this point I would like to start a post for those who need to start exercising.
A place to share what motivates you to get moving, what do you enjoy?
Tell about your goals, share your accomplishment’s for the day, week month, year.
Encourage each other and pat each other on the back for a job well done.
Why participate? I didn’t ride my bike alone. I had a partner and that partner kept me going when I really did not want to. Also along the way there were other bicyclists that were encouraging me to keep going when I was struggling to get up the hill. Believe me when I drive down the coast now I remember each hill and what I felt like after I had finished climbing it. I want to do that for you. Be that person that will celebrate with you when you achieve that hard earned goal. Or encourage you to keep going when it’s really tough and you really want to quit.
